I think it is useful for CRaVers to have this guide so we all know how much to expect and also what items are being charged for/changed during the respective servicing intervals. The list only shows standard items and not optional items that individuals request to do at KM on their own like engine flush package and wheel alignment. Those who have the information to contribute for the other intervals just post in this topic and I'll add them to this list below. Do state yours is 2.0 or 2.4 and the service interval when posting your cost breakdown. Let me know if there are any mistakes. NOTE: Neither the club nor anyone (who contributed) is responsible for any inaccuracies, data shown here are just a guide.

KM CR-V 2.4 Service Package Price List (prices inaccurate, kindly just refer for service components involved in respective service intervals)

Updates on service changes:
-Shell Helix (4L) price increased from $97.14 to $100.93

-Washer price increased from $1.12 ($1.50 less 25%) to $1.42 ($1.90 less 25%)

Tips on how to save money on servicing

NOTE: 'Tips' here are not meant to be strongly suggested to be followed. They are just purely information on cheaper alternatives and do not suggest that they are in any way the better or right choice. Neither the club nor anyone (who contributed) is responsible for any issues arisen from following any of the below 'tips' leading to problems with the car or warranty claims from KM. Individuals should make their decisions at their own discretion.

1) You can supply your own engine oil bought elsewhere for your servicing should you wish to use/try other brands. If you would like to stick with the Shell Helix Ultra engine oil which KM uses, you can also get them at a cheaper price elsewhere (from freelancers and supermarkets) as low as about $60 for 4L.

2) You can also supply your own engine oil filter (from freelancers and stockists) but you will be told that should any leaks occur it will not be KM's responsibility. Savings just a few bucks (about $6-7), not much. Only worth it if you happen to be buying other items at the same time from the freelancer or stockist or else not worth the time and trouble.

3) You can get after market aircon filters which are cheaper instead of getting back OEM. Can range as low as $16 (carbon type) to $50 for branded. It is mentioned somewhere online that other Honda models like the Accord also using same aircon filter. So for the same OEM aircon filter but for other car models, don't be surprised it cost lower than that labelled for the CR-V so you can save this way too.

4) If you do not insist on using cotton OEM air filter (not aircon cabin filter, different thing this is for engine intake), you can consider getting cotton/wire mesh combination filters (i.e. K&N) or stainless steel filters (i.e. Hurricane) where you do not need to change but only clean them from time to time (more work but could be cheaper over long run). Or you can buy OEM air filter from stockists for about $32-35 also end up saving.

5) Fuel strainer/filter can be bought at a much lower price (about $45) from one of the forum authorised vendors (Clazsique).

6) You might save some money by buying certain fluids (auto transmission, brake, differential, steering) from freelancers and stockists. But very strongly advised to only use approved brands (either Honda OEM or whichever that KM uses). ATF can cost about $32 (4L) from Clazsique.

Price of Shell Helix from KM went up? How much volume did they put on the receipt, is it 4L or slightly more? The rest same for mine except for the optional wheel alignment.

So indeed they have increased their price for Shell Helix engine oil. I wonder if its the same at supermarkets. I will update the price on the list. Can any 2.4 owner post the new price of 0.5L Shell Helix if you still getting it from KM.

I noticed a trend for the basic labour charge, it increases for the same work as the intervals increase. For example during 1,000km it only costs $18 to change engine oil, check Power Train and Control Mechanism System. To do the same thing at 10,000km costs $32, then at 20,000km replace engine oil & filter alone costs $48. Any logic? Roll Eyes Bleah Change engine oil and filter is straight forward and same at any interval isn't it Don't Know

It's been a long time since I use Engine oil from KM. Since my Honda Stream in 2004 till now.  Paying so high price for SHU in KM, in my opinion is not worth it.

I prefer Redline 10W30, 5 quarts is only $85.  That is a saving of ~$30 for the Engine oil alone.

My V has free servicing(including parts & labour) for 1K, 10K and 20K.  I still prefer to bring my own oil. Smiley

Just did my 10K servicing last saturday (after the Penang Trip).
Bought the oil (Redline 5W30) from MX @ $70/-.
Serving cost about $165 (includes rotating change to the 4 wheels)

In June 2008, my 5K service, the KM engine oil is $100.93/-. Now buy from outside better.

these power train and conntrol mechanism are all nonsense.. if we just do regular oil change, why should we pay so much for these? maybe during next service, instruct them not to do anything on power train and control..

I realise its standard servicing for every visit, I suppose these are for checking/testing the stated parts. Just that I don't exactly understand why it gets more expensive as the intervals increase. Especially for the replacing of engine oil & filter, you can see that this increases too for the same basic job of changing engine oil & filter. Don't Know
