For myself, I will probably do slightly differently. If I come near a flooded area, will brake and stop (safely).  I will not not care if the driver scold me road hog... Important thing is not to get into one.

Two ways the car will be gone:

1. Water enter engine via inlet.

2. Water blocks whole of muffler, resulting in exhaust choke and water enter engine block via extractor.

Edward bro thanks for sharing your experience and the tips, very useful for other CRaVers to take note and learn Thumbs Up I now know what to do when sway sway bump into high water levels on the road.

It was an unfortunate and unlucky incident, glad that everything was solved in the end and you got new engine parts! Haha I think by now (after the recent heavy floods) most probably know which location to avoid travelling already, almost always same old places that get it.

It might just be me but I will argue on the flood being declared as act of god by insurance companies. This flood happened because poor planning of the size of the drains, not because of heavy rain itself. Act of god to me is something you cannot avoid, like earthquake can happen anywhere anytime, but then that kind of flood SG experienced can be avoided if the drains could drain the water to the sea more effectively. Just my personal thoughts Smiley
